THANK GOD MY FRIENDS ALWAYS LOOK SO COOL

Now that I have a nice, compact camera that I bring nearly everywhere, I've been able to capture a ton of moments of my friends just looking so unbelievably cool. People also seem to grab the camera away and take photos of me, which I'm always grateful for.

This is me with my friend Cassidy inside of CU Records, the student-run recording studio on Columbia's campus. It was opening night (even though a select few, including the band that I play with, have been using the space for the past semester), so Jazz House came and played around while people checked out the studio. Cassidy always has the best color schemes going on, and this picture gives me seriously Cassie and Effy vibes.

We went to Seb's apartment afterwards to chill and play some music. Seb plays bass in Gold Medal, but had his guitar out that night instead.

The next night, we went over to Tim's place to work on mixing songs for our EP. I think they're getting a little annoyed at all of my picture taking, but if this one isn't the epitome of cool, I don't know what is.

Tim took a photo of me getting sleepy during the 5th hour of the mixing session. I was wearing my vintage dark wash 501s, a tank top from brandy melville, and a jacket from asos. My band members labeled me as "western girl" ..... must be the fringe.

FAST TIMES AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Last night, my friends and I all went to this big party at one of the brownstones on Columbia's campus. This particular party is always the most fun, since I know a ton of people there, and the djs (many of which are my friends) are fantastic. Also, everyone there always seems to have the best style.

LAST SEMESTER'S ARTWORK

Hiiiii everyone sorry I'm so terrible at keeping this blog updated! School has been quite hectic lately with figuring out my schedule and getting back into the swing of things. I'm taking an extra class this semester, so that hasn't helped either. At least I get to take a printmaking course, which I've never done before!! Here's a couple of pieces I did last semester in my collage/mixed media course at Columbia:

THRIFT SHOPPING WITH FRIENDS (in bushwick, of all places)

Bushwick has become a sort of joke - almost a meme - in my greater friend group. Why a large amount of Columbia Students, nearly all of them living on-campus in Morningside Heights, would congregate in a Brooklyn neighborhood two subway transfers away is beyond me. Ok, I guess you could only transfer once, but who wants to take the 1 Train all the way to 14th Street? Not me.

I got back to campus a couple of days before classes started, so I met up with my friends that were also back early, and we took a little trip out to the 'shwick (kill me for saying that) to do some thrift shopping. I documented the adventure, of course.

Here are some photos that I managed to capture along the way:

Let me know what you think of this new camera! I'm really happy about the quality, and making videos with it has been so fun.

AN ISLAND IN POLAROIDS (st. john)

I hauled my huge Polaroid 660 Land Camera (you know, the big, boxy one that preceded the cameras that Urban Outfitters sells by a couple of decades) all the way to the Caribbean, and got a few shots out of it.

Me in the island's foliage; I'm wearing a top by Pacific + Driftwood and bottoms by Ripcurl.

Nick, Emmett, and Genevieve enjoying the sunny day. It was Emmett's birthday so we all celebrated by relaxing at the pool.

Me at Cinnamon Bay Beach wearing Frankie's Bikinis and Ray-bans.

Genevieve and Nick relaxing at the beach.

That's all for my St. John photos - get ready for some shots of New York to start appearing again! I can't wait to use my new Olympus camera (and of course the Polaroid, but film is expensive, ya know) to get some really cool shots of my adventures here.

ST. JOHN (photos and video from the caribbean islands)

As mentioned in my previous post, I spent about a week over winter break in St. John, one of the US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. I brought along my new camera (the Olympus Pen E-PL8) to get a hang of how it works by taking pictures of my friends exploring the island.

My bikini top is from Pacific + Driftwood and my shorts are vintage Levi's.

Nick always has the best style, even while hiking.

The views were spectacular - especially when we hiked up the island. We even got a huge rainbow on our last night, which was awesome.

Check out a collection of my footage from our trip on my new Youtube channel:

CARIBBEAN COOL (frankie's bikinis)

I'm BAAAAACK! Sorry for my little hiatus there. I got the Frankie's Bikinis Camilla One Piece for Christmas, but since the weather in LA while I was there for winter break was so dismal, I didn't get a chance to wear it until my trip to St. John in the Caribbean. Not complaining - that trip was the perfect opportunity. Here are some photos my friends took of me soaking up the sun at Cinnamon Bay Beach:

The island was so beautiful and picturesque. I had a lovely time with my friends from college, and definitely got my fair share of heat, humidity, and sun before returning to snowy New York City. At least the sun's out today! Yesterday, for fun, I walked from Canal St. to 114th, about 6.5 miles, just for a little bit of fun and exercise... unfortunately, it started snowing halfway through my journey, and by the time I got back to my building on Columbia's campus, I was frozen to the core. Ah, to be in the Caribbean again. Stay tuned for more photos.

THE FIRST SUNRISE OF 2017: malibu, california

Well... hello 2017! After a fun night of ringing in the New Year, my friends and I woke up at 6 AM to make it down to the beach in Malibu in time for the first sunrise of 2017. I brought my new camera to capture the moment.

The beach was completely empty and quiet.

We watched the sky turn from black to dark blue to purple to pink to orange to yellow to bright blue.

The ocean was too cold for us to jump in, but we took our shoes off and ran around the shore, savoring every opportunity to get the sand in between our toes before we all head back to college in different states.

It was one of the most beautiful sunrises I had ever seen, and it felt so great to be there on the first day of this new chapter with some of my closest friends.

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's Eve and Day... here's a little reminder to stick to your resolutions!!!
